what is Android?

Android is operating system used in mobile like HTC,LG,SAMSUNG,NOKIA and its also a plateform on which mobile application can be developed.
it is open source.So any one can download its development kit and tools to develop mobile application.
it is developed by GOOGLE .it is programmed in java.
